A nasty problem of fly tipping has been developed by residents in these areas of Northolt. This has been going on for the past three years where residents are seeing it fit to throw out rubbish at the side of their homes which eventually ends up scattered on the roadways.
On Edward Road, persons have been dumping old furniture, appliances, and other waste on the green spaces and pavements. This has made the area into a dump and reflects poor on the council.
The problem of littering in the area mainly is done by students of the schools in the area on their way to and from school. Some taxis and residents are also choosing to clean out their vehicles and throw their litter on the road or pavements which is scattered by wind or animals such as foxes.
Firstly, we the residents are asking that the council put more bins in these areas of Northolt to aid in garbage collection as there are no public bins in Barn Close, Rushdene Crescent, Edward Road, Watery Lane, and Tangmere Gardens.
Secondly, put up no-dumping signs in green areas illustrating what the fine is for dumping.
Thirdly, send out cleaning crews regularly at least once a week. At present, cleaning crews are only seen once a month especially in Barn Close, Rushdene Crescent, Edward Road, Watery Lane, and Tangmere Gardens.
Fourthly, have regular patrols to charge and enforce residents and others who engage in dumping, fly tipping and littering. Notices can also be put up in the schools in the area to raise awareness among students and teach them the importance of not littering and protecting the environment.
