Apologies for lateness were noted for Councillor K Crawford.

It was moved by Councillor Johnson, seconded by Councillor Manro and supported by Councillors Steed and Kumar and

RESOLVED: That Councillor Hitesh Tailor be elected as Mayor for the municipal year 2023-24.

Following Councillor Tailor’s election as Mayor, Council noted Councillor Tailor’s appointment of Councillor Charan Sharma as Deputy Mayor for the municipal year 2023-24.

Councillor Mason moved, Councillor Ball seconded and Councillor Stafford supported a vote of thanks for the outgoing Mayor.

RESOLVED: That thanks be recorded to Councillor Mohinder Midha for her service as Mayor for  the municipal year 2022/23.

To approve as a correct record the minutes of the meeting held on 25 April 2023.

RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting held on 25 April be agreed as a correct record of the meeting.

The Mayor announced that Apple Play would be his Mayoral Charity for the year. Another charity would be announced at a later date.

Council noted that Pride month would being on 1 June, and that there were a number of civic events taking place in the next few months including Armed Forces Day and Civic Services at Ealing Abbey and Jalaram Mandir.

RESOLVED: That Council

1.     Approved the changes to the constitution set out in the appendices.

2.     Approved the revised criteria for the award of freedom of the borough and of honorary alder, as set out in Appendix 5.

3.      

Council is asked to:

1.     Note Cabinet Appointments made by the Leader

2.     Agree appointments to non-cabinet positions that attrract a Special Responsibility Allowance

3.     Agree the appointments to Committees and other bodies

4.     Agree the appointments to Outside Bodies

RESOLVED: That the appointments to Committees and Other bodies are agreed.
